Demonstratives

In Haitian Creole, to use the demonstrative as an adjective, place it after the noun.
To use the demonstrative as an pronoun with the meaning this one",etc., you the demonstrative alone.

For this or that add sa a to the noun.
For these or those add sa yo to the noun.
If you need to differentiate between this and that or emphasis this rather than that you can add sila a to the noun for this
or sila yo for these.
If you want to talk about something at a distance you can use sa laba a for that over there(yon) or sa laba yo for those over there(yon).

youn chen = a dog
chen an = the dog
chen sa a =that(this) dog
chen sila a = this(not that) dog
chen laba a=that dog over there
chen yo = the dogs
chen sa yo = those(these) dogs
chen sila yo = these(not those) dogs
chen laba yo=those dogs over there

If you want to talk about something at a distance you can use sa laba a for that over there (yon) or sa laba yo for those over there(yon).

M wè chen sa a. = I see that(or this)dog.
M wè sa a. = I see that one.
