What is Kreyol?

Kreyol Lwiziyen or Louisiana Creole is a creole, a stable language derived from the combination of two or more languages. In the case of Louisiana Creole, the source languages are French and the West African languages spoken by the Africans slaves in Louisiana. Today Louisiana Creole has slightly more than 300,000 speakers, mostly in the southern and southwestern parishes of Louisiana.
